Born and raised in d’Iberville, Mississippi, Kelly Vuyovich spent his early childhood like most. At the early age of 16, he began dancing in a trade program offered by his high school through a local Arthur Murray studio. Twelve short months later he accepted an instructor’s position with them. He was there for only one year before transferring to another
Arthur Murraystudio inNew Orleans, Louisiana. After staying there for one year, he was off to the bright lights of New York. While living in the New York/New Jersey area he moved
to Fred Astaire Dance Studio. When he turned 29, Kelly opened his own Fred Astair
Dance Studio franchise. Kelly kept this studio for six years until he went independent with his own studio “Ballroom Magic.” Moving back to Mississippi in 2001, he opened
“Illuminations DanceSport” in Hattiesburg. He kept Illuminations DanceSport open for eight years until its closing in 2009.
Kelly competed professionally between the years of 1983 through 1998 in the American Rhythm and Theater Arts divisions. After annoucing his retirement from the competition
floor, Kelly now independently teaches, choreographs and judges for various studios andcompetitions throughout the United States. In October of 2014, Kelly opened Mystique Dance Studio in Hattiesburg.
